BSC International 7 – Greatbatch 1
This past week’s game again saw BSC coming out on top, with a final score of 7-1.
The story of the game was the emergence of “Hat-trick” Patrick Calloccia, who took over Marc ‘Holy shit I know how to score goals now’ Petryk’s role from the first three games, netting three goals in one game. Pat’s first opportunity presented itself early on in the game, when a ball popped up in front of him as he stood in front of the net around the penalty shot dot. With his right side facing the goal, Pat fooled everyone (himself included) by first flailing his left leg in the air (as if he was going to volley the ball), followed with a half fall to the ground & finished with a right footed twitch – sending the ball off his shin, past the defender and magically making it hop it’s way through the legs of the goalkeeper, much to the surprise of all – simply no one was expecting this (poor) level of play.
Pat took a good ribbing for the first goal, but shortly thereafter Paul Welker knocked a ball across the 6 yard line & Pat cleanly pushed it into the back of the net.
Goal three came off a throw-in from Hector “Poncho” Garrido, who lobbed it past the left attacker, where it was picked up by an attacking defender Mark Valites at the corner of the 18 and half volleyed into the far lower corner of the net, for his third goal in as many games.
The fourth BSC goal again went to Pat, who completed his hat trick – quite possibly Pat’s best showing during all of his tenure with BSC.
The remaining BSC goals were scored by Marc “Spanish” Campillo (who leads the team in goals scored this session) and Paul Welker, with an absolute missle that skimmed the crossbar on it’s way to the back of the net. We again had a mystery scorer who put in the 7th goal. (Hopefully someone will be able to identify the scorer – keep checking the comments below.)
The only Greatbatch goal of the game came as BSC was mucking around on defense – Greatbatch started down their right wing, beating a BSC defender (ok, maybe two or three…) and played the ball onto the top of 18, where an attacker of theirs ripped a shot on goal. BSC goalie Nick Wydro deserves credit for somehow managing to block the initial shot, but Greatbatch was able to tap the rebound in before any of BSC could clear the ball.
The next game matches BSC against our Epic Center soccer rivalry – Submarine. Fans can expect a physical, skilled match by both clubs.

Hey! Here’s the scorer of the missing goal… I scored 2. I know… the last two goals in a 7 – 1 game don’t should count for more than 1 but… they’re still 2!!!
